What type of therapy do you provide?
Although I have studied psychology, I don’t work as a registered counselling psychologist, instead I prefer the freedom and flexibility of working as a coach, bringing together a wealth of information and resources from a wide range of disciplines. From an academic and qualifications point of view I have a background in Law, Economics, Accounting and Psychology with certifications in somatic bodywork and massage, tantric sexuality, relationship coaching, family law mediation and family system constellations.
Strong reference points for my work are:
- the 12-step programs of Love and Sex Addiction, Adult Children of Alcoholics and Co-Dependents Anonymous.
- Processwork by Arnold and Amy Mindell
- the work of Bert Hellinger as envisioned in Family Constellation work.
- Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) developed by Dr Sue Johnson
My sessions are primarily focused on receiving insights and awareness as to what unconscious beliefs and/or patterns are leading to current experiences, and how through awareness and education new informed changes in behaviour and responses can ensue.
How many sessions will it take?
This question is completely subjective and all depends on the presenting problem as well as the appetite present. We can have a few sessions and I can point you in the relevant direction for self-study and exploration to obtain shifts, or we can have a longer journey where it is through direct engagement with me that the process of learning and change takes places.
How long do appointments go for?
Sessions are billed per hour but can vary in length. The standard duration is 1 hour, however when working with couples, where both are present, or for first sessions, or where the nature of the conflict is at a heightened level, then sessions will take as long as necessary to ensure that nothing is left too raw and exposed.
Unlike your traditional counselling or psychotherapy practice you won’t hear from me “see you next week” while you are mid-sentence with your aha moment because the clock has chimed on the hour and my next client is already getting impatient in the waiting room.
My clients receive a significant portion of my attention and focus and as a result I do not take on too many clients during any given period, ensuring that I can stay present, and my client’s concerns remain front of mind until they have completed their cycle with me, or we have determined the best course of action for resolution and integration.
That being said, supporting my clients to develop and/or respect boundaries is equally important and this is imparted through the containers of timed sessions and contact.

How do you work with couples?
When working with couples I prefer to work with a combination of individual and joint sessions. In my experience the most effective way to find insight for support with the dynamic is to focus of individual sessions with both parties of the relationship. This way I can gain insight into the dance steps that each partner is bringing and provide insights and strategies for that partner to bring to their relationship.
